Vancouver Canucks Lose Game 5 to Edmonton Oilers
Bouchard's Late Goal Gives Oilers 3-2 Victory
Canucks Now Trail 3-2 in Series
Edmonton, AB - Evan Bouchard scored the game-winning goal with just over six minutes remaining in the third period, lifting the Edmonton Oilers to a 3-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks in Game 5 of their NHL playoff series. The win gives the Oilers a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series, with Game 6 set for Wednesday night in Vancouver.
The Oilers controlled much of the game, outshooting the Canucks 39-30. Edmonton also took advantage of a Canucks turnover in the third period to set up Bouchard's game-winner. Bouchard's shot from the point beat Vancouver goaltender Thatcher Demko high on the glove side.
The Canucks had a chance to tie the game late, but a shot by Elias Pettersson hit the post with just over two minutes remaining. The Oilers then held on for the win, despite a late flurry of shots from the Canucks.
