Nebraska Volleyball Team Wins Five Sets Against Creighton

The Nebraska volleyball team’s impressive 2023 campaign included a hard-fought victory over Creighton on Saturday, September 16th, in Lincoln, Nebraska. After dropping the first two sets, the Huskers rallied to win the next three sets in a thrilling five-set match. The win pushed Nebraska’s record to 6-3 on the season, while Creighton fell to 3-3.

The match was close throughout, as neither team led by more than four points in any of the five sets. The first set saw Creighton take an early lead, but Nebraska rallied to tie the score at 17-17. Creighton eventually won the set, but Nebraska took the second set in a nail-biting 28-26 finish.

Nebraska rallied from a 2-0 deficit to take the third set, 25-21. They also won the fourth set, 25-22. The Huskers then closed out the match by winning the fifth set, 15-12.

Nebraska’s win was due in large part to the play of Madi Kubik. The sophomore outside hitter led the Huskers with 21 kills. She also had 13 digs and two blocks. Lexi Sun and Kaitlyn Hord also had solid performances for Nebraska.

Creighton was led by the duo of Norah Sis and Jaela Zimmerman. Sis had 16 kills, while Zimmerman added 15 kills. Creighton also got a strong performance from setter Keeley Davis, who had 49 assists.

Nebraska’s victory over Creighton was a significant win for the Huskers. Creighton is a talented team that was ranked No. 21 in the latest AVCA Division I Coaches Poll. The win also gives Nebraska a boost of confidence as they prepare for Big Ten play, which begins next weekend.
